AGM + Karen Pryer “Restoring a 17th century grade II listed timber framed cottage”

after a brief AGM Karen Pryer will entertain us with slides of her renovation on her listed cottage.

The presentation on ‘Church Cottage – Restoring a timber-framed cottage’ will describe the process that Karen & James Pryer went through to restore their Grade II listed cottage in East Garston. From the initial sale purchase to completion took almost five years which included applying for planning permission and listed building consent to replace an old extension and restore the old house. The restoration work included the removal of the thatched roof and rafters, removal, restoration, and re-installation of the timber frame, rebuilding the walls and the chimney stacks and much more. The house was completely enclosed by fully sheeted & tin-roofed scaffolding and the project provided much entertainment for the villagers out for a walk over the next few years.
