BBOWT, the Berkshire, Buckinghamshire & Oxfordshire Wildlife Trust, was founded in 1959 (with the enthusiastic support of the Field Club) to promote the study and understanding of the flora and fauna in the three counties. Since then it has gone from strength to strenngth acquiring land to manage with wildlife in mind and, more recently, managing publically-owned commons on behalf of West Berkshire Council.

Speaker

Simon Barnett is a Land Manager for Berkshire (People & Estates) and has worked in nature conservation and access management for over 25 years in Berkshire and Hampshire, both for local authorities and Wildlife Trusts. He has had a passion for wildlife and the natural environment all his life, and has been lucky enough to find himself in a role that satisfies this passion. He will talk about the nature reserves managed by BBOWT in West Berkshire, the wonderful wildlife there and how the Trust manages these site to protect and enhance them for wildlife and people.
