How a small village in the middle of nowhere produced a bell foundry of national importance in the 17th/18th19th centuries, and why. The presentation will include a short performance on 250 year old hand bells (cast in Aldbourne)


Terry Gilligan is an indigenous "Dabchick" (someone who is born in Aldbourne). He has been a bell ringer for over 50 years, and amongst other things is chairman of The Aldbourne Community Heritage Group, the Aldbourne Heritage Centre, and also chairman of our village magazine "The Dabchick". He is the author of The Home of the Hand Bell and Crotal Bell.
