Nick will introduce his latest book Newbury 365 a look at Newbury history in the form of a calendar. The book details at least one historical event that took place on each day of the year. The book covers every day events, the English Civil War, murder and much more. For example one story from 5th March 1894 tells of how eight year old Rhoda Sturgess saved the life of her sister whilst earlier in history on 4th January 1726 the River Kennet flooded flowing with such force that the bridge was swept away.


Nick Young is well known to those interested in the history of our area through his work with Thatcham History Society and the Thatcham Vision. Nick is co-author of THATCHAM - an historic town in a changing world and sole author of two recent books Thatcham Then & Now and Newbury Then & Now.
