Probate inventories are lists of possessions forming the estate of deceased inhabitants of the area. Analysis of inventories in bulk can tell a lot about the standard of life, the way people lived and how and when new technologies arrived in Stuart homes.

Jameson Wooders became interested in Berkshire probate inventories while studying at Reading University, so interested that he has continued to transcribe such documents long after the immediate needs of his thesis.
