Have you ever wondered why your road is named as it is? Is there a story behind the name, or was it chosen at random? Are there any past residents, or buildings of particular interest? Is the name linked to something that happened here in years gone by?

Roy's books on local road names are so much more than a dry listing of the names and why they were chosen, they are the history of our area through the people and events that are remembered on local street signs and maps.

Roy Tubb, a former teacher at Kennet School, is a prolific author on the history of Thatcham and the nearby area, his series of 'Road by Road' titles, which began with Thatcham 20 years ago has now reached Newbury, it is a must buy if you are interested in the history of the town (copies will be available at this talk).
